[Plantage] Freeze à répétition (résolu)

Bonjour

J'ai installé Arch depuis la darnière iso, ça s'est bien passé mais le système plante régulièrement, de préférence quand j'installe un gros machin et que Firefox est ouvert.

La première fois, j'installais flatpak avec pacman. Les fois suivantes étaient peut-être liées à la première, car la base de Pacman était corrompue (voir ce post). Mais depuis j'ai ré-installé avec l'iso et je continue à avoir des plantages.

J'en ai eu un une fois, une seule, avec juste un terminal ouvert (j'utilise Terminator) et Firefox, alors que je ne faisais rien de particulier. Les deux fois suivantes, je tentais d'installer Teams avec flatpak (et toujours Firefox à côté) et ça a planté vers la fin de l'installation. La dernière fois c'était tout-à l´heure, alors que j'installais libreoffice avec Pacman, et toujours Firefox à côté.

Mais je n'ai eu aucun plantage avec juste Firefox.

Je n'y comprends rien. Et comme ça plante totalement (pas de tty, de souris, de clavier : l'écran est gelé sur l'image du bureau et des fenêtres et rien ne répond) je ne sais pas où regarder pour comprendre d'où ça pourrait venir. Voici quelques logs qui ne me disent rien. Si quelqu'un a une idée...

Autre problème, minime mais qui a peut-être un rapport : de temps en temps la résolution n'est pas correcte pour le gestionnaire de connexion (LightDM) puis c'est rectifié une fois passé cette étape. Il me semble qu'on en voit la trace dans /var/log/Xorg.0.log : quand j´etais devant LightDM ce fichier se terminait à [ 10.001], juste avant [ 197.183], et aussitôt dans Xfce les dernières lignes ajoutées indiquent le changement de résolution.

Mais bizarrement le "switch to mode 1280x1024@60.0 on VGA1" apparaît déjà à [ 4.960], comme si le passage à la bonne résolution avait eu lieu avant l'affichage de LightDM.

Je ne sais pas si ça a un lien avec mes plantages à répétition, mais je note deux (EE) dans /var/log/Xorg.0.log, l'un sur fbdev et l'autre sur /dev/dri/card0. Je n'ai pas installé xf86-video-fbdev mais seulement xf86-video-intel, car d'après ce que je comprends sur le wiki de Xorg le pilote fbdev ne sert que si celui d'intel n'est pas trouvé par le système, et a priori ce n'est pas le cas chez moi puisque la session X fonctionne (quand le système ne plante pas). D'un autre côté il est question de pilote dans le wiki et de module dans Xorg.0.log, alors le lien entre les deux n'est pas clair pour moi.

Quant au message d'erreur sur /dev/dri/card0, une recherche sur Google me renvoie vers des trucs sur bumblebee, paquet que je n'ai pas installé et qui semble surtout destiné aux portables avec des cartes Nvidia. Je ne vois pas le rapport avec mon cas (PC fixe avec carte Intel).

Je note qu'il est aussi question de DRI après le message d'erreur sur fbdev.

Tout ça ne m'éclaire pas beaucoup... :|

Bonjour, essaye sans xf86-video-intel, cela utilisera le driver modesetting qui est très bien

Pas de paquet xf86-video-modesetting. Je redémarre : écran noir (ou plutôt bleu sombre, type X). Pas de tty. Abandon.

Toujours avec l'iso, je lance arch-chroot /mnt puis, dans le chroot, j'installe xf86-video-fbdev (au cas où).

Je redémarre : écran noir (vraiment noir, type tty) avec juste un message d'erreur du genre "[Failed] Failed to run lightdm" ou un truc comme ça. Pas de prompt, mais cette fois j'ai accès aux tty, ce qui me permet de récupérer les extraits de /var.log.Xorg.0.log suivants.

Je commence par restaurer la situation initiale.

Et là je note que la sortie de "pacman -S Xf86-video-intel" indique un truc intéressant sur DRI2 versus DRI3.

J'ai donc créé le fichier /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf avec le contenu suggéré, puis redémarré. Pour l'instant ça marche, mais comme mes freezes sont aléatoires, je ne sais pas si c'est vraiment reglé. Il y a encore des erreurs dans /var/log/Xorg.0.conf, mais ce ne sont plus les mêmes.

Ce sont les dernières lignes du fichier de log. Apparemment X a cessé d'écrire dedans à cause de ce problème de clavier. Il se peut donc que d'autres erreurs n'aient pas été affichées, je suppose. En tout cas dans celles-ci il n'y a plus rien concernant l'affichage vidéo, c'est déjà ça.

Je ne sais pas quoi penser de ces nouvelles erreurs.

Ressaye sans xf86-video-intel, pense à supprimer 20-intel.conf, mais modifie l'initramfs pour qu'il contienne le driver d'intel dedans.

Donc en gros modifie /etc/mkinitcpio.conf si MODULES=() était vide au préalable, remplace cette ligne par MODULES=(i915), sinon ajoute i915 à la liste
Puis met à jour l'initramfs : mkinitcpio -P

J'ai fait ce que tu m'as dit, mais à nouveau je me suis trouvé devant un écran noir (avec un curseur clignotant). J'avais accès aux tty.

À tout hasard j'ai recommencé, en ajoutant aussi intel_agp dans la ligne MODULES=(...) puis mkinitcpio -P, et j'ai redémarré. Même chose. J'ai rajouté xf86-video-fbdev et redémarré. Pas de changement.

À noter : les trois warnings suivants après mkinitcpio -P.

Dans /var/log/Xorg.0.conf c'est comme tout-à-l'heure : pas de message d'erreur sur l'affichage vidéo, mais ça se termine par les messages d'erreur sur your system is too slow. Cela dit j'ai vu sur ce forum d'Ubuntu que ce n'était pas une vraie erreur, plutôt un warning sans importance.

Peut-être faudrait-il que je précise que je suis unr un vieux PC fixe, sur lequel j'ai déjà installé et utilisé Arch pendant longtemps sans problème, mais j'étais passé à Debian depuis qq années. Je suis donc un peu déconcerté par les problèmes rencontrés à y revenir.

Arch a bien sûr dû changer depuis, mais j'ai ausi changé mon écran : j'ai maintenant un BENQ 1920x1080 (à peu près deux fois plus grand que celui que j'avais avant).

Cela dit depuis ce redémarrage je n'ai pas eu de problème. Mais comme les freezes sont aléatoires j'ignore si c'est stable.

J'avoue sécher un peu. Je serais quand même curieux d'avoir le log de Xorg associé à mon test (désolé je n'avais pas été très clair) et sans xf86-video-fbdev et xf86-video-vesa (qui ne sont jamais nécessaire, tu ne devrais jamais les avoir d'installer, si tu en as besoin, tu as un sérieux problème dans ta configuration) et pour mon test sans xf86-video-intel
Après avoir démarrer dans cette configuration, tu ne peux pas changer de tty (Par exemple : ctrl + alt + F3) ? Et si tu y arrives que ce passe t'il si tu redémarres le service de ton gestionnaire de login (LightDM) ?

Bonjour,
Les plantages aléatoires ont souvent pour origine une défaillance matérielle. Démarre sur une iso archuseriso pour voir si les symptômes persistent, et pour savoir si la config par défaut de l'iso fonctionne sur ton matériel http://dl.gnutux.fr/archuseriso/fr_FR/

Merci à tous les deux.

@Benjarobin : Je n'ai pas eu de freeze depuis que j'ai commencé toutes ces manips. Il est donc possible a priori que conserver xf86-video-intel mais rajouter /etc/X11/xorg.xonf.d/20-intel.conf et/ou MODULES=(i915) ait déjà résolu le problème. Qu'est-ce qui te fait penser que ce n'est pas le cas, et qu'éviter le pilote d'intel devrait mieux marcher ? Est-ce que ce sont les derniers messages d'erreur sur "system too slow", ou autre chose ? Aparrement ces messages sont sans importance, d'où ma question.

Je vais reprendre à zéro, avec linux plutôt que linux-zen, sans xf86-video-{fbedev,vesa,intel} et sans /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/* mais avec MODULES=(i915) et en exécutant mkinitcpio -P puis je posterai ici /var/log/Xorg.0.conf après redémarrage.

@Laurent85 : Je vais essayer ton archuseriso pour Xfce ensuite,. Je voudrais d'abord voir si ça peut se stabiliser comme ça. Mais pour utiliser ton iso je préfèrerais l'installer sur le disque dur plutôt que l'utiliser en live, avec mes utilisateurs et groupes habituels (dont les HOME sont dans une partition dédiée de mon disque dur). C'est possible ? Est-ce qu'il y a une doc quelque part ?

Le but de démarrer sur une iso et peu importe l'iso est de déterminer si les symptômes sont reproductibles avec un autre système avec config par défaut, l'intérêt d'archuseriso est qu'il n'y a que des paquets officiels Arch, c'est pas une dérivée. Donc si la session graphique démarre avec cette iso, c'est ton installation qui n'est pas bonne. Et si ça plante aussi tu ne seras pas plus avancé je te l'accorde mais ça élimine certaines hypothèses. Consulte la page github de ma signature pour plus d'info sur ce qu'est archuseriso.

J'ai demarre sur l'iso archuser avec Xfce (a nouveau pas d'accents car mon clavier est qwerty), et le serveur X n'a pas pu se lancer.

Les messages du boot se terminaient pas :

Les pilotes videos installes etaient xf86-video-{amdgpu,ati,nouveau,vesa}. Dans /etc/mkintcpio la ligne des modules etait MODULES=().

J'ai installe xf86-video-intel et relance lightdm avec systemctl start lightdm et la c'etait bon : apres un ecran decoratif je suis arrive dans le bureau Xfce de root. C'est la-dedans que je suis en train d'ecrire.

Maintenant /var/log/Xorg.0.log contient ceci, et on retrouve les erreurs your system is too slow.

La seule chose que je ne peux peux pas savoir (et que j'aimerais bien savoir), c'est si ce systeme est plus stable a l'usage que celui que j'ai installe depuis l'iso de base.

Utilise le pendant quelques heures en live. Cette iso est comparable à ton système à quelques paquets près s'agissant de Xorg, la couche graphique Xorg de l'iso utilise l'autoconfiguration, c'est du générique comme config. Je pense que c'est lié au fait que le matériel est ancien, et les plantages au fait que Xorg ne maintient pas une compatibilité géniale avec les matériels anciens (faute de devs pour déboguer le code sur d'anciens matériels), ou encore bug du pilote Intel, ce pilote n'est plus maintenu correctement depuis des années.

Avant de lire le message de Laurent85, j'ai ré-installé Arch à partir de l'iso de base, en écrivant la ligne MODULES=(i915) dans /etc/mkinitcpio.conf avant de lancer mkinitcpio -P. Puis j'ai installé le méta-paquet xorg, et la configuration minimale pour le tester indiquée dans le wiki :

@Benjarobin : le paquet xf86-video-vesa était déjà installé. Je l'ai désinstallé avant de redémarrer et le résultat était le même. Par contre j'ai oublié de tester si les tty étaient présents.

Avec le pilote xf86-video-intel, par contre, le serveur X veut bien démarrer. Je n'ai pas eu de freeze pour le moment, mais je l'ai peu utilisé (et par précaution j'ai installer tous les gros paquets dont j'ai besoin sans X). Je vais maintenant le conserver, et voir à l'usage si les freezes reviennent, et si je peux en venir à bout autrement. En principe la ligne MODULES=(i915) ne sert donc plus à rien, j'imagine, mais je vais la garder pour le moment.

Ah en effet, le chipset graphique 82G33 date de 2007, il commence à se faire vieux...
Cette "carte graphique" ne supporte que OpenGL 1.4. Il n'y a pas de support de la version 2.1 d'OpenGL qui est requis par le driver modesetting

Donc un gros +1 à tout ce qu'à dit laurent85.
Bref, ce que tu avais fait été très bien, xf86-video-intel avec le fichier 20-intel.conf, tu peux éventuellement jouer aussi sur l'AccelMethod

Garde-le ça ne peut pas faire de mal, ça permet le réglage de la résolution par le noyau Linux dès l'initramfs, ce qui évite les éventuels sauts de résolution de l'écran durant le processus de démarrage.

Je n'ai plus eu de freeze, je vais donc passer le sujet en résolu.

Mais... j'ai d'autres problèmes en lien avec l'affichage vidéo. Alors à très bientôt sur un autre fil de discussion ! :D
