[Xorg] installing xf86-video-savage on x686

Hello,
I am trying to install Savage driver on my old thinkpad because my graphic card is S3 Graphics supersavage IX/C SDR.
When i try to install the title AuR package, Pacman failed to install the dependency X-ABI-VIDEODRV_VERSION=23.
Then i try to install xorg-server1.19 to fix it but makepkg says : incompatible with x686 architecture, what Can i do to make X work please ? Thanks for tout help

Hello, this is a French forum, why didn't you ask in the English forum (the official website) ?
I do not think you will be able to install this driver on Arch Linux (and this should be the same in any modern, up to date distribution). Installing an old package (X11 in your case) version is not supported.

Coucou, désolé pour l'anglais c'est une habitude mais je peux parler en français sans soucis.
Merci pour ta réponse benjarobin, du coup si j'ai bien compris je ne peux pas installer une arch avec un environnement graphique sur mon vieux thinkpad ?

Je ne te promet rien, mais essaye ceci (Au moins cela compile...)
Code : Tout sélectionner
mkdir xf86-video-savage
cd xf86-video-savage
wget http://ix.io/2ssR -O 0001-Remove-rotating-screen-support.patch
wget http://ix.io/2ssS -O PKGBUILD
makepkg -si
Installe ensuite
savage-dri
En résumé, j'ai utilisé la dernière version de Git (oui la méthode utilisé dans le PKGBUILD est assez moche, je veux garder les scripts de configuration (./configure, Makefile.in, ...) fournit par la dernière release 2.3.9), et j'ai supprimé une fonction du driver (rotation de l'écran) car elle appelait une fonction supprimée de xorg-server (xf86DisableRandR)...

Salut benjarobin merci pour ton aide, effectivement ça compile, et ça a éliminé quelques erreurs de mon startx mais certaines subsistent.
