J'ai éprouvé quelques difficultés à installer tant bien que mal Archlinux sur ce vieux PC. Maintenant que je suis parvenu à faire fonctionner X avec lxde, je suis quelque peu déçu car le fonctionnement en mode graphique s'avère particulièrement lent (avec lxde ça passe mais il faut oublier KDEmod ou Xfce4, c'est vraiment très très peu réactif (au mieux 10 secondes entre chaque clics)).
Par exemple, lorsque je lance swiftfox (FF allégé) pour regarder une vidéo flash sur Internet, l'affichage est haché image par image sur l'écran de la vidéo, et cela bien que celle-ci ait correctement été téléchargée (d'après la barre de progression) et la partie sonore de la video se termine tandis que les images n'en sont encore qu'au début de leur diffusion. L'incateur de charge du processeur montre une utilisation à 100 % tout le temps de la vidéo.
Moi je pensais que tout ce qui relevait de l'affichage sous X était pris en charge par le GPU de la carte, cette surcharge du processeur lors du visionnage vidéo m'amènerait à penser le contraire pour ce qui concerne mon ordinateur.
De même, en ce moment, tandis que je tape ma question, le curseur est parfois en retard, et ne réagit pas immédiatement.
La RAM quant à elle semble convenir en quantité, elle n'est presque jamais utilisée à 100 % avec Lxde
Même avec Lxde, le temps de réaction de la machine après un 'clic' est plutôt long et la charge du processeur atteint très vite et très souvent 100 %.
Par ailleurs, lorsque je déplace une fenêtre, il est fréquent que celle-ci laisse une trainée sur le passage de son déplacement.
J'ai remarqué aussi que le fait de faire bouger vigoureusement le pointeur le la souris (ou même de taper un texte dans une fenêtre de Swiftfox) faisait grimper la charge du processeur jusqu'à parfois 100 % et tandis qu'au repos complet cette charge n'est qu'à 25-35 %.
Je remarque aussi que le fait de faire défiler le texte de ce message avec le curseur de façon rapide fait immédiatement grimper la charge du processeur à 100 % (indications du 'gestionnaire de tâches' Lxde).
Il se peut que j'aie mal configuré quelque chose ou mal réglé les paramètres du Bios, ou qu'il y ait quelque chose en trop ou qui manque pour ma machine. A moins que ma carte graphique soit défectueuse, auquel cas je n'hésiterais pas à la changer pour une autre en état de marche.
Je suis pour l'heure un peu déçu car partout j'ai lu que Arch était une distribution particulièrement rapide et tout à fait adaptée à des configurations comme la mienne.
Quelqu'un pourrait-il m'aider à faire tourner correctement Arch sur mon antique PC ?
